What do you feel about smoking as it relates to HIV treatment and living with HIV?

Sukie's Answer

As a person with HIV I do believe smoking is harmful to not only us, but for anyone. It may be more harmful to people with HIV because of our immune system. I am an ex-smoker I actually quit about a month ago and I have seen a difference already. My doctor kept advising me to quit, he had talked to me about some of the health issues some of his other HIV patients had encountered because of smoking including cancer, among a lot of other things, why hurt yourself even more with this virus? It is important to know as a man of Trans experience that using hormones while smoking puts people at a greater risk of getting blood clots, which is very serious so please if you smoke think about giving it up.
