I can only speak from my own personal experience. I’m an immigrant since the age of 5 years old from Mexico. Growing up with a single struggling mom and not always having health insurance available to me because of the social security number policy it was a little hard for me to get regular physicals and schedule out doctors appointments. It wasn’t until the age of 22 when I could receive aid from the Dream Act, and then a year later, I found out my status. I could only imagine if I didn’t have insurance, if I could continue, knowing my status, without insurance. It would’ve been extremely difficult to find affordable accessible treatment while still being “illegal”. If I were to create a law as a congressman, it would be to protect the medical rights of all people seeking it especially illegal immigrants. I would require information and affordable health services be given to those who need it regardless of citizenship.
