How has your race/ethnicity informed your experience with living with HIV?

Nilda's Answer

Well I guess me being a Latino woman has been hard because in our culture women are suppose to act a certain way. But I have always been a strong minded woman. I always did what my heart desired. Being an hiv positive Latino woman never bothered me. Because I accepted myself and never worried about who didn’t.Some of my family turned their backs. But like I said it did not affect me. I found and made my own family. Being a strong HIV positive Latino woman makes me want to show other women that we are strong, and that we need to stand up together and fight the stigma in our culture’s.So my experience has taught me to be strong and stand firm in my beliefs.
