What impact, if any, do you believe this will have to people currently living (long term or short term) with HIV?

Ivy's Answer

I believe the statement released by the NYS Department of Health and 240 other organizations that “people living with HIV who are on antiretroviral therapy and have an undetectable viral load do not transmit the virus to others” will impact people living with HIV in ways I cannot even imagine.

The research proves that with treatment and education an HIV diagnosis is not the end of a normal life, it can actually open the door to a healthy sex life and limitless possibilities. It is my belief that this finding will lead to decreasing the stigma around HIV testing, normalize our conversations about living with HIV and encourage more people to know their status. I am hopeful that this information will impact all of us in a positive way. It is great news to start the new year!
