What do you feel about smoking as it relates to HIV treatment and living with HIV?

Brandan's Answer

I am a smoker. Since I’ve quit using drugs and am in recovery I’ve cut back on how much I smoke. When I was using I would smoke two, or sometimes three packs a day. Now I smoke anywhere from ten cigarettes to maybe three to four a day. Being sober has helped me pay closer attention to my health and my HIV status. That’s why I’ve reduced how much I smoke. I want to quit smoking but I don’t see it happening in the near future. I know how bad it is to smoke especially being HIV positive and smoking is definitely an obstacle I need to overcome, I’m just not ready yet. I think anyone who is HIV positive shouldn’t smoke and to those who have quit, congrats, I hope to be one of you someday.
