If you were a congressman/congresswoman what new law would you write to address whatever you believe to be the biggest issue facing PLWHA?

Karen's Answer

If I were a Congresswoman I would pass a law that ALL PLWHA have to attend support groups for at least a year consecutively. WHY? Because it is only through the unity and strength of people living with this disease can we take the power out of STIGMA and DISCRIMINATION. Also there would be an amendment to the law that other than treatment you cannot receive any other services until you participate in an advocacy, activism, and policy training. PLWHA’s will be the integral component to the changes needed to be made in HIV policy, and those changes will be reflected in how society as a whole receives the needs for Prevention, Education and AIDS Awareness. In a nutshell it will be POWER TO THE PEOPLE living with HIV.
